There are plenty of people who look at music like an enjoyable way to pass the time. There are others that reflect upon music in its truest art form. They can’t be without it and they don’t respond quite the same way to anything else the way they respond to music. Most believe the thoughts, emotions, and desires expressed in this way are just something that you’re either born with or without.

When there is musical passion and ability, whether it is a simple tune plinking from old piano keys or the mastery of the Fender acoustic electric guitar, there is soul. When the neighbor’s Ibanez electric guitar comes to life, there is a washing away of the sorrows that we carry. A simple sax melody can inspire us far more sometimes than anything else we could look to at that moment. The black electric guitar rings out from the stage and we feel it vibrate deep in our chest. It’s all relative.

Is there an unnatural driving force that pushes musicians forward? Is there a need to bury oneself deep into musical endeavors in order to avoid dealing with the issues of life? Or is it closer to understanding that musicians of today and musical prodigies of tomorrow are all on the same page. They just want to be inspired, live inspired, and create inspiration. When you hear the raw and powerful talent of just one special performer you know in your heart that music is just as much a part of this world as math or technology. Yet math geniuses are not looked at as though they have flighty dreams and are not patronized when they fill their heads with ideas.

There is a lifelong connection between inspiration and musical influence. Most people can hear the natural inspiration when the right piece plays for them. When it is your own creation that has people feeling uplifted, ready, expressive, and inspired it is pure magic.

Most of us can feel inspired by music. Some of us feel as thought creating the music that inspires us is akin to feeling like we are part of the necessary inner workings that make the world go around. It can be that important. Of course, you may not find that we can always express it like that. We just seem a bit obsessive.

Unfortunately, it takes a certain amount of financial investment to really learn the mastery of any given instrument. The actual instrument is not cheap and neither are the lessons that are often necessary. When you invest in a potential musician, you invest in the world. At least that’s what ‘they’ say. The investment in the musician can lead to wonderful and unexpected things. This can include a higher understanding of math, science, and reading comprehension.

Music opens the window not just on the soul but on a great number of things. When you open yourself up to the power that everyone from the street musician to the rock star to the first chair of the orchestra offers, you’ll find that you embark on an amazing journey of your own.
